The new Toshiba E305 is a Best Buy exclusive 14-inch display laptop and a price of about $ 900. Packed with an Intel Core i5 "Sandy Bridge" processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive and Blu-ray drive, this PC is the next big family? Read on to find out.
At first glance, the new Satellite E305 has many design elements in common with other Toshiba notebooks currently on the market. The rounded clamshell chassis wrapped in a combination of plastic and aluminum is a mixture of silver and black. Unlike last year's E205, this Best Buy "blue label" exclusive is not covered by a metallic blue paint job ... something we are pleased. The new E305 looks more like a "bonus" from the laptop laptop last year ... but your opinion may change when you pick it up.
The screen lid and the top panel surrounding the keyboard are both made of textured aluminum, but the metal casing is quite thin and flexible like plastic you find on most Toshiba laptops. In fact, my first reaction when you read about "aluminum" in the E305 to say: "It's not aluminum." But a closer look it is aluminum ... it's just very thin. The hatch pattern on the lid and wrist supports help prevent dirt fingerprints and scratches appear as easily as they do on an Apple MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, but Toshiba just does not as durable.
The combination of thin plates of aluminum and the results of the plastic construction in a primary chassis, which folds under the pressure and the soft creaking when you press next to the Blu-ray. The display hinges on this model closely enough and keep the screen in position when you move the laptop from one place to another. I think this laptop will survive quite well as a desktop replacement and can handle regular trips, as it is wrapped in a laptop bag, but I would be reluctant to carry the E305 with me every day without protection additional.
The basic handset is rather lacking in terms of upgrade options. Fortunately, Toshiba is a fast 500GB hard drive in the E305 (Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid Drive), then you may need to upgrade the storage system. In addition, there is no easy access panel RAM upgrade. In fact, all the screws with a laptop covered with small rubber plugs. Toshiba just give a small panel on the bottom of a laptop with a wireless access card, if you need to replace or upgrade the component. In short, this is not a laptop designed for people who want to buy in aftermarket upgrades.

The Satellite E305 features reasonably nice collection of ports. Now you have two USB 2.0 ports and a USB 3.0 "Super Speed" serial port. There is no ExpressCard slot to add new ports, but you can not get a dual video out ports: VGA connector for an old school projectors and the new HDMI display or HDTV. Toshiba was also kind enough to offer a Blu-ray Disc (also a built-in screen does not support 1080p) and the E305 with Intel Wireless Display so you can wirelessly connect your notebook to an HD compatible TV or connect it to HDTV a wireless adapter.
