Lenovo ThinkPad T420 Review - Updata

The T420 has a very similar look and layout of its predecessor, the T410s. It is slightly larger with a reduction in front-back depth to better accommodate the big screen. The internal hardware has been enhanced to use the platform Intel Sandy Bridge, a storage array using the recently introduced major 7mm 2.5 "drives instead of 1.8 inch devices and one USB 3.0 ports USB 2.0 replaces / eSATA combo port. Two striking design of T420 is that the battery is at the front (under the right palm rest) and most of the ports on the back. The keyboard is placed so close to the screen possible, which helps support the wrist and a generous touchpad great.

The T420 comes in what looks like carpet, dark gray or black paint as lighting, with some touches of color (red trackpoint stick and highlights on buttons, more blue ThinkVantage trackpoint and the Enter key) to provide a little contrast . There is no shiny surfaces to show all the fingerprints.

The T420 closely match my preconception of the ThinkPad build quality. The laptop is built on a combination of a metal alloy and carbon fiber to provide an appropriate balance between strength and weight. However, there is some flexibility in the database under the optical drive, you can press the bottom of the screen between the hinges when the laptop is closed (this is where I keep the computer when carrying it), there is a certain laxity of drums and rattles in the Bay optical drive (a side effect of the extra height so that a disk 9.5 mm in a shopping cart can also be integrated). The hinges have just the right amount of stiffness to keep the screen safe without requiring too much force, and to adjust the keyboard has a positive effect without skipping. The display is somewhat flexible, and it is possible to apply sufficient pressure on the back to give a few lines on the screen.

Of the hard drive / SSD cage sits on rubber guides to give as well as shock and vibration isolation. It is a different arrangement on the Dell E6410 with the hard drive is connected directly to the frame. Here is a picture of the HDD / SSD Caddy with rubber guides.

T420s are slightly wider than the Dell E6410, but has less front-to-back depth. When placed side by side with the Dell E6410 difference in thickness is not very significant. One reason for this is that the T420s have longer legs that rise above the table, but do not affect the thickness of the journey.
