Samsung Series 7 (DP700A38-01) Review

Samsung 7 Series all-in-one PC (DP700A38-01) (list $ 999.99 at Best Buy) is a fantastic desktop. With the Samsung logo on the back of the screen 16 mm thick that rivals the Apple iMac PC as thin all-in-one desktop that you want on your desktop. It also has a clear glass touchscreen, making it one of the few all-in-one PC that do not use the clunkier looking at the screens. Down and the screen is flush with the edge so you can easily reach all parts of the screen all the way to the edges. It is certainly not fast enough and powerful enough to do most things you expect from your main PC. But is it as good as the leaders in the room all-in-one?

The design and development

DP700A38-01 is a model of quality television space All-in-one PCs. It looks like a 23-inch HDTV with a built-in DVD player. In a sense, this model is dictated by the planned usage: Since the screen is 1920-by-1, 080 (true HD 1080p) resolution, it works well as an Internet TV station. The screen is bright and clear as the Samsung HDTV. Desktop screen is so thin or thinner than most HDTVs. Glass is a surface-acoustic sensor that responds to touch more than a capacitive touch screen tablets. Infrared sensors touch touch screen on older PCs are not as rigorous and demanding the screen can be displayed around the frame. Perfect touch-screen DP700A38-01 to facilitate the contact points of the edges and corners (like the Start Menu button, and close buttons).

The screen tilts back 90 degrees vertically and horizontally. 90 degree drive is useful for touch games, especially when two or more players are playing at the same time. And when the screen tilts gently enough, is a bit 'of "bounce" using the touch screen in place. And 'confusing to see a premium product to do this, but the effect of a single hinge. The hinge is simple, and takes the pot when using the screen anymore, but the friction is not sufficient to maintain a constant touch-screen sessions. Needless to say, you need to be demonstrated, even if you plan to use the touch screen touch for intense play. Another NIT would be lying on the ergonomics of a flat panel display: You are likely to return to the top.

The DP700A38-01 comes with a 1 TB, 7200 RPM drive, which is plenty for most users (which is enough to store hundreds of thousands of digital photos, for example). The office also comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse. The grooves on the keyboard as a puzzle piece on a board in the base frame, allowing you to reclaim space on the desktop. The DP700A38-01 also comes with 802.11 b / g / n Wi-Fi, which is pretty standard on computers these days. The integrated speakers are sufficient for domestic use and come with software to optimize and tailor the sound to what you hear (music, movies, etc.).

It comes with four USB 2.0 ports on the back (one occupied by the receiver for the keyboard and mouse) and a USB 3.0 port on the right side. The USB 3.0 port is a feature that allows you to charge electronics, such as a smartphone or tablet, while the system sleeps. Perhaps the most significant are two HDMI ports: one input and one output. The output is useful for multi-monitor configurations, which have two screens at the same time can increase your workflow. HDMI extends the life of the screen, so in the future, you can connect a laptop for when the bowels of the 7 Series has been too slow, plus, you can use the HDMI input with a cable box or DVR to reality TV PC. HDMI inputs are integrated into the HDTV tuners replaced with "must-have" feature for PC / TV fans. That said, it would have been nice to have at least the option of a Blu-ray player for early adopters with vast libraries of HD movies.

The DP700A38-01 a few programs preinstalled. The Office usually Starter 2010 is here, plus a 60-day trial of Norton Internet Security. A bit of bloatware such as Skype, Wild Tangent, and Kindle comes pre-installed, as well. Samsung Touch program launcher DP700A38-01 screen in a home screen in tablet form, such as. You can add a program from the Start menu or a shortcut on the desktop by dragging the program icon or shortcut to the folder to launch touch to use the touch interface. Touch Launcher also has some widgets like weather and clock. It is not as large as the HP TouchSmart is available on the HP TouchSmart 610-1150y ($ 1199.99 at Best Buy, 4.5 stars), but it is striking that the tactile system from Dell that weighs on the system Windows 7 operating systems like the Dell Inspiron 2305 (IO2305-4400ELS) ($ 799.99 list, 3 stars).

There is a row of touch buttons at the top of the optical drive: the volume buttons, screen brightness, the screen on / off, source (HDMI / PC), power, and a shortcut button Touch the startup programs. The latter is a contact button menu button on the screen controls.

Best Buy also has an extended warranty program, which offers customers an additional year of protection beyond the one year warranty of most system manufacturers. There are two plans in this extended warranty program. The standard diet ($ 119.99) covers the system against normal wear and tear, power surge damage, and includes a "No Lemon" Guarantee Purchase where you just replace the equipment if more than 4 repairs during the coverage period . POINT Best Buy ($ 219.99) offers all this and the system also covers accidental damage from falls and spills.

Performance

The DP700A38-01 comes with an Intel Core i3-2120T dual-core processor with Hyper-Threading and Intel Integrated Graphics GPU HD 2000. The office completed the video encoder brake test for 2 minutes 5 seconds and the Photoshop CS5 test in 4:31. These results are poor, but certainly adequate for occasional use of a family. Systems like the Dell Inspiron 2305 (IO2305-4400ELS) are a bit faster (1:47 handbrake, 03:54 in S5), but they pale to the true quad-core processor as the Apple iMac 21.5-inch (Ray) ( listed at $ 1,199, 4.5 stars) that cut through these tests quickly (in the handbrake 1:25, 3:29 in CS5). The DP700A38-01 from day to day performance is slightly better than average, scoring seven points in PCMark 2451. In addition to subjective observations, the office has played 1080p HD video without problems and the touch interface of the launch system has been reactive.

Samsung Series 7 (DP700A38-01) is a shot in the arch of the leaders of all of your class, as the HP TouchSmart 610 and 21.5-inch iMac from Apple. It has a nice screen and decent performance. It also has some standard features that no cheaper systems, especially the HDMI and the screen tilt of 90 degrees. However, the touchscreen is not as good as the HP TouchSmart, mainly due to the screen that appears when the rebound is used. Basically, when the screen is any form of vertical integration (0-89 degrees), you must use the touch screen Samsung in moderation. The slope of the HP TouchSmart 610 is much more stable when using the touch screen, but "only" is tilted at an angle of 60 degrees (which is fully usable from a seated or standing). As long as you do not use the touchscreen as the primary interface, the Samsung Series 7 DP700A38-01 is a great all-in-one.
