Our review unit Clevo X7200, courtesy of the AVA Direct has the following characteristics:
* 17.3-inch 1080p (1920x1080) glossy display with LED backlight
* Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
* Intel Core i7-980X six-core desktop processors (3.33 GHz, 12 MB L3, 6.4 GT / s QPI, 130W TDP)
* Intel X58 desktop
* Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 Graphics Card w / 2 GB of GDDR5 memory at each
* 12GB of triple channel DDR3-1333 RAM (4 GB 3x)
* 256 A-DATA SSD S599
* 500GB Seagate Momentus 7200 XT secondary storage (ST95005620AS)
* Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN wireless LAN
* Blu-ray (HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW CT21N)
* 1 year warranty
* Li-poly battery (78.44Wh)
Weight: 13.48 pounds.
Dimensions: 16.5 x 11.3 x 2.2 ~ 2.4 inch
* MSRP: $ 4,700
Base price for Clevo X7200 customized from AVA Direct is $ 2,150, the configuration of our test unit includes more than the crazy bleeding edge components. The most important part is the desktop Core i7-980X processor, which has six cores and running blistering 3.33 GHz (which may be the turbo speed 3.60GHz), $ 764, commands a higher base to quad-core Core i7. Next on the list have two Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 graphics cards that are 2GB $ 963 more above the base of a GeForce GTX 460 1GB. That completes the list of 256 GB SSD ($ 401), 12 GB of RAM ($ 178), and Blu-ray ($ 90). The only thing missing on our test unit of a system of custom paint, which is available from AVA Direct.
Design and build
Defining characteristic is its physical X7200 huge footprint. About two and a half inches thick, and almost 13.5 pounds, is simply enormous. Beyond the physical size of the X7200 is reasonably well equipped with an aluminum covered with palm rest and a touch of blue LEDs, but as with other Clevo notebooks, was not designed for a fashion (or not). build quality is solid, the palm rests, and other surfaces resist flexing under the pressure and the body does not bend when twisted. The cover is more flexible than I prefer, even if the bottom is made of aluminum. Fortunately, no ripples appear when pressure is applied from behind. Fit and finish is satisfactory, the parts fit together with a laptop even spacing, and no space for a laptop is better than the other.
Ports and Features
As expected with a "portable" that large, the X7200 has a wealth of input / output. It has all HDMI and DVI to USB 3.0 and e-SATA. Interestingly lacks an ExpressCard slot. All descriptions of the images are from left to right.
X7200 is largely made of thick plastic, most of which are not covered with the exception of the screen frame and the area directly above the keyboard, which attracts dust and fingerprints too easily. The screen surface is glossy, which increases the problems. The manufacturers should take a hint and give up the shiny plastic of all.
