Dell Inspiron 2120 Review

The Latitude 2120 stands out both in appearance, with a textured rubber outer layer on both the top and the bottom panel of the netbook. The panels have a light colored screen panels that give a rubber grip even better, and make it easier to capture and delivery. The Latitude 2120 is also available in "slate", "blue ribbon" and "school of red." The interior is black matte ABS plastic and no discernible flex in the chassis. Just above the keyboard, you'll find a power button and volume.

The keyboard is almost full size, traditional style touches. While many netbook keyboards feel small and narrow, which felt very comfortable. The only time I felt that the keyboard has been cut to fit the netbook form factor was while using the arrow keys, which are crowded in the lower right corner of the keyboard with the Page Up and Page Down. The touchpad used in the latitude is very small, even compared to other netbooks like the HP Mini 1103 (299 $ an address, 3.5 stars), which has a touchpad is smaller than an average card. If you can go to their small size, is that the touchpad supporting two-finger gesture controls such as scrolling and zoom and the right mouse button and click left quietly and smoothly.

The 10.1-inch screen is as fundamental as that obtained in 1024 by a resolution of 600 high-definition video of the question, but still enough for web browsing. Shows similar results can be found on the Asus EeePC 1015PEM ($ 370 street, 4 stars), and the Acer Aspire One D260-1270 ($ 399.99 direct, 4 stars). If you want to upgrade to a larger screen, the HP dm1z has a 11.6-inch widescreen display with 1366 x 768.

Two speakers located on either side gives a sound surprisingly consistent, whether high or low volumes. The sound is clear enough, but it sounds like a small. There is no low type and high volume sound is a bit 'pathetic, but there was no distortion, and clarity, but not great, better than I expected from a netbook.

Characteristic

Latitude 2120 is a fairly standard feature set for a netbook: VGA output, two USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, 802.11n Wi-Fi and a SD card reader, but there were few surprises as two Kensington lock slot one of each side of the unit. And while many netbooks includes a built-in webcam, Latitude 2120 is one of the few to get one that is 2.0 megapixels.

The Latitude 2120 has a 250GB hard drive, which is common for netbooks, both the HP Mini 1103 and Acer Aspire One AOD255-1203 includes 250GB drives, but do so at a much lower price. Although there netbooks range of $ 600 with 250 GB hard drive, like the HP Mini 210-2000 ($ 599 direct, 3.5 stars), but several larger models, the fastest hard drives a lower price.

Unlike many netbooks, which come with a set of pre-installed bloatware, the Latitude 2120 is a clean refreshing. Dell offers some basic services such as Backup and Recovery Manager, but otherwise the only additional software is a version of Microsoft Office that provides free start-limited versions of Word and Excel with a little publicity. Apart from these, do not try to force an annoying trial software or adware on you, take one of the other manufacturers to follow. Dell includes a year warranty with service and basic material by e-mail service.

Performance

Latitude 2120 has a 1.5 GHz Intel Atom N550, a dual-core processor designed for netbooks. It's the same processor found in both the Acer Aspire One D260-1270 from Samsung and the choice of editors NF310-A01 ($ 399.99 street, 4.5 stars), but 2 GB of RAM that it comes with, provided improved performance over Samsung NF310-A01 is 1GB. In SYSmark 2007 benchmarks, scoring 44 points overall and beat Latitude 2120 Samsung NF310-A01, scoring 38 points overall. But all Atom N550 may be the best netbook that Intel has to offer, it's not top of the stack. Dm1z HP has a AMD-350 and E SYSmark results to others to shame, with a total score of 57 points.

Similar results were observed in our test processor speed, CineBench R11.5, where the Dell Latitude 2120 was 0.46 points. In comparison, the Acer Aspire One D260-1270 scored 0.5 points, and the AMD-equipped HP Pavilion dm1z scored 0.61 points. With its Intel Atom processor, the Latitude 2120 to offer Internet browsing and productivity are not a problem, but the most demanding users may find that performance is a little slow.

Latitiude the 2120 all day battery life 6-cell (56Wh) battery last for 7 hours 2 minutes MobileMark 2007. This is the beginning of a long life of most batteries, like the Acer Aspire One D260-1270, which squeeze the outside of the 9:04-6-cell (49Wh) battery, but is 7 hours, the results of HP dm1z, which is a 6-cell battery (55Wh) battery and Samsung NF310-A01, its battery 48WH.

Solid business netbook, the Dell Latitude 2120 offers a collection of relevant works, but when stacked up against its competitors, it seems a little 'expensive. For $ 200 cheaper than Acer Aspire One D260-1270 offers a collection of similar features, or you can get Editors Choice ', the HP Pavilion dm1z for $ 449, which provides components and best performance across the board.
