Lenovo ThinkPad T410 Review

To the naked eye on very little has changed in the overall design of the ThinkPad T410 than previous models. They still wear the black screen of rubber covering the ThinkPad logo, without offering further gloss-black frame, and the palm, and use continues to be strong and visible stainless steel display hinges. These are areas where the similarities stop. Appearance door has changed significantly in order to increase the available ports, and even some types of new connections. Lenovo ThinkPad fans will notice that Open is now the center of the screen frame so thicker on one side and a thin frame in the second. Another change is the passage of two pieces of the palmrest and keyboard bezel on older models have a one-piece design is stronger and has fewer holes in the grid. Land has changed - with a user control panel is the biggest addition - to allow users to install more RAM or a wireless card without tearing apart a laptop.

Build quality is a sensitive issue for anyone familiar with the ThinkPad brand and how it has evolved over the years. Any change in the holy ThinkPad seen as negative, even if it results in a strong portable. The good news is that overall T410 redesigned chassis still feels as strong as ever ... but the bad news is a few specific areas do not lose some strength earlier ThinkPads. The cover of the screen appears lower on the left side, allowing the lid of the pressure to shine through the distortion of the LCD. Only the left side of the screen shows the cover of this anomaly, but it is even more than previous models. Another element is the access panel at the bottom of the laptop that is designed to give users access to a system memory slots and a mini-PCIe port. This is by far the lowest in the laptop world ... bend a little when it is installed and fold more than any other surrounding panel.

I do not want Lenovo went to a metal panel, although slightly increased the overall weight of the laptop.

Access to internal components have been improved over the last T410 models will no longer be removed from the Palm to refresh the memory. With the latest redesign Lenovo moved to the center of laptop RAM. One slot is available through the bottom of the tray outside the door and the other is under the keyboard. The keyboard comes out easily when you remove the two screws and remove it. The average person, this makes the user updates a lot less complicated. As always, the hard drive has its own door, which is removed with a screw.

Screen and speakers

The screens are offered on the ThinkPad T410 has changed very little from those offered on the T400. The biggest difference is the set of T410 models ship standard with LED backlighting. However we have not noticed any decrease or increase for that matter the quality of the screens. The WXGA + on T410 with dedicated graphics offer good color reproduction with better than average contrast. The WXGA display on the T410 with integrated graphics as good color reproduction and contrast, but has a slight blue tint compared to a neutral white panel WXGA +. Backlight levels are higher in the WXGA panel when the two panels are placed at the same brightness. Angles were similar for each laptop with most of the colors start to invert and distort when they are tilted 15-20 degrees back. Horizontal viewing angles were better with accurate colors remain very steep angles.

The built-in speakers sounded better than average for a laptop. They were able to get high enough to fill a small room, but the bass and midrange are still missing. For video per day, or watch YouTube videos for a break, they should be more than sufficient for the intended market. Headphones for travel, are also high on the list of must-have accessory.

Keyboard and touchpad

T410 has the same keyboard we've seen renewed its debut T400s. This is a new function and keyboard keys, such as the escape and Delete keys at the same time, increasing in size adds backlit power button and mute button. Another new feature, which is located in the BIOS is a Lenovo, you can change the function and control buttons in software, if you happen to be one of those people who like the control key is the key to the last line .

The ThinkPad keyboard is still comfortable to type for hours without creating too much stress hand. The redesigned keyboard has a few tweaks compared to previous models, narrow spacing between keys to reduce the risk of entering into pieces and write a softer feel. Comments smooth writing and calm actually caused some problems to write because I wanted to write on the keyboard light, not fully activate the keys. Once you have become accustomed to the difference that this was not the problem, but passwords first typo it was really boring.

The touchpad is a Synaptics model texture is very large for the management of multi-finger movement. The T410 supports two-finger scrolling, rotation and zoom, and three fingers of the press and cinema. In general use the touch screen is easy to use, no perceptible latency and rapidly cooling. Acceleration rates in the two axes are the same ... then quickly draw a circle did not translate into an oval shape. The textured surface is easy to slip into everyday use, even if your fingers are wet. The touchpad buttons are easy to use and comfortable to click. They offered a long career with a smooth action that makes no noise when you click on the top end.

Ports and Features

Port selection on the new T410 is excellent and a huge improvement over previous models. Lenovo adds an extra USB port, added FireWire, eSATA added (for compatible models), and even threw in a DisplayPort connection for digital video without using a docking station. In all this makes the ThinkPad T410 one of the most feature-rich 14 "notebooks on the market, with four USB ports, VGA, DisplayPort, eSATA combo audio out, modem, LAN, FireWire 400, optional, and that a smart card slot as an option. The T410 also features a SDHC card slot and an ExpressCard/34 slot for expansion.
