HP EliteBook 2560p Review

EliteBook 2560p is a re-designed from the start, taking a couple of design cuesfrom Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (Thunderbolt) ($ 1,499 direct, 3.5 stars), and their selection of colors, and its structure aluminum exterior. Clean lines, minimal lighting, and the silver tone is very similar to the MacBook Pro, even if a large battery that sticks out the back after building seemed rushed. Young professionals will find more aesthetically appealing than the black-clad Lenovo ThinkPad X220 ($ 1,299 direct, 4 stars). 2560p is also a military-class company, which has suffered heavy control on the basis of specification MIL-SPEC-810G, which means testing in humid, dusty, flaky, and extremely hot and cold. These modified tests are identical to the Lenovo X220 and Dell Latitude E6420 had. At 4.3 pounds, 2560p is the lightest business ultraportable with a built DVD burner. Lenovo X220 4-pound and 2.5 pound Sony VAIO VPC-Z214GX ($ 2,499.

A list of 99, 3 stars) are lighter, but the lack of these assets to drive its leaders are often looking for.

The widescreen 12.5-inch size is compatible with the X220. This particular screen size is really rare these days when most companies choose an ultraportable 13-inch screen. Its 1366 x 768 is the standard text for an ultraportable 12-inch compared to 900 by 1600, available in 13-inch Sony and Sony VAIO Z214GX VPC-SA2FGX/BI (list $ 1199.99, 3.5 stars). You can not find a higher resolution than that of a 12-inch ultraportable. The interior of the laptop is an overhaul as well. Instead of a traditional keyboard is flat above the keys are more in line with the desire and the pavilions, the line of HP consumer. They lack backlights, however, a feature that comes standard with Sony and Sony Z214GX SA2FGX/BI. The 2560p is a pointer steep undersized touchpad, mouse and four, the browsing experience with features like scoring, is much better on the Lenovo X220.

Characteristic

The set features 2560p is probably the most complete in a business ultraportable. It has a DVD burner, a feature that Sony and Lenovo X220 Z214GX missing. There are three USB 2.0 ports, one of which is actually a combo USB / eSATA, which, together with a compatible device, extending beyond 320 GB of storage including disk, without sacrificing speed. Despite its compact chassis, HP has also made room for VGA, an ExpressCard slot, Ethernet and RJ11 Modem jack. Safety functions as a SmartCard reader and fingerprint are also present. DisplayPort on the right side of the laptop can play audio and video in an apartment outside. He has an impressive range of wireless, 3G, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the X220, but Lenovo integrates well with the WiMAX option.

Performance

2560p with 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5-2520m dual-core processor will be able to make any application or function. It has the same CPU can be found in the Lenovo X220, which explains their Photoshop CS5 and Cinebench R11.5 results were similar. Runs furiously through the whole extent PCMark 7 (2640), although it was Z214GX Sony (3328), as the latter ran a powerful Core i7 processor. The integrated Intel graphics chip is one that is not as powerful as a separate graphics chip, AMD is SA2FGX/BI Sony. Still, the 3DMark 06 (5141) and Crysis (14.4 fps), the results show that it can handle some games, as long as the numbers are to refrain from creating quality.

One thing that a business ultraportable that is known is that the battery options are generally two types of large and very large. Boats 2560p with a standard battery 62WH, which lasted 7 hours and 40 minutes on MobileMark 2007 tests. With a similar battery (63Wh), the Lenovo X220 (8:40) eclipsed the 2560p an hour. You can change the battery for the 2560p standard battery 90WH 62WH ($ 139.99). In contrast, the X220 from Lenovo and Sony extended battery Z214GX slices working in conjunction with standard batteries. Therefore, it is not surprising that despite the battery lasted 9:09 2560p option 90WH, combines Sony batteries Z214GX (15:23) and Lenovo X220 (12:45) lasted much longer.

There is much to say about an ultraportable that fills in the range of critical business functions, while performing at a very high level. HP EliteBook 2560p is the only 12-inch ultraportable left that comes with an integrated optical drive and loads a powerful Core i5. His scores on the battery and typing experience is not all measure Lenovo ThinkPad X220, but it is a solid ultraportable anyway, and worth its weight (or what little there is) on the road.
