ProBook HP 4520s notebook is a small business and medium-sized enterprises, which replaces the old 4510s to last year. The new model bumps on the composition of the elders of the family of Intel Core 2 Duo processor is Intel's latest Core line, including the Core i3, i5 and i7. The report examines what has changed and how to survive the latest model of its predecessor.
Design and build
The HP Compaq 4520s has a clean, semi-rugged on the outside, one step from the previous generation. The top of the screen instead of plastic in the 4510s and is polished metal feels stronger and looks much better. The new metal roof and has a clean, hides most of the fingerprint and scratch resistant soft daily abuse. The interior gets the same treatment with bronze anodized brushed-metal wrist rest for her and a speaker grille.

In addition to these changes, the notebook retains much of the same design as the previous model. The keyboard is a model chiclet plastic insert with a glossy black screen bezel, which continues to share the same appearance. The bottom of the laptop has the same clean design at the expense of removing access to all parts user extensible.
Build quality is very good and a step up from the old model. The brushed metal cover, the 4520s and required some force screen saver, like plastic lids on the previous model lacked. Palm Support speaker grille and also got some stiffness and now offers very little flex under pressure. The chassis as a whole feels very well built, but still a notch below full business notebooks that EliteBook or ThinkPad series. The keyboard tray has some minor flex under pressure, which would not be a problem on more expensive models.
Another area of questionable design is the lack of upgrades available, which has its strengths and weaknesses. The solid bottom cover has very little flex, which can be found if the bottom was covered in the individual panels. On the other hand, the lack of access to more difficult to replace faulty components or upgrade elements on the line.

Screen and speakers
The Compaq 4520s features a 15.6 "anti-glare screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. A resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, this 720p high-definition screen is perfectly usable and features color and contrast. We know many people are concerned about the proportion of transition screens 16:10 to 16:09 (and this means a lower vertical resolution) but the difference is so small that the vast majority of laptop users will not be a problem.
Horizontal viewing angle is quite impressive, and you begin to notice changes in color, after obtaining 75 degrees off center. Vertical viewing angle is only average, as the screen begins to wash from the top and the colors begin to invert the bottom after about 45 degrees in either direction. The matte finish really helped a lot with the viewing angle more pronounced as the panels can sometimes make empty thoughts to overcome the screen from certain angles.
Speakers for the HP 4520s ProBook run average with other notebooks of small and medium-sized businesses. Compared to most consumer portable speakers, have left much to be desired, but the popular music listening, or capture your favorite programs streamed over the road should be more than enough. Peak volume levels were fine in private small and medium enterprises. Bass and midrange were lacking, but it was the best, of course, most notebooks in this class.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The full-size keyboard in the 4520s by the same design found in the 4510s and offers a space between the keys to type, and a keypad (a big plus for companies that use their computers for number crunching or data entry). Each key is relatively flat with a nice texture and matte keys sit in a shiny black frame support. The support frame around the keys are firm enough with the chassis design that includes additional support for the keyboard. The most obvious area in the flex of the keyboard is to press the keyboard. Note, however, we received a pre-production unit, and HP claims that the production units are shipping to customers further support against bending.
Room keys are quiet, without strong ticking as you type. Depth of each print is an excellent, although some may be flat, chicklet-style keys. In general, the keyboard layout is very nice 15-inch laptop.
HP has updated the touchpad 4510s 4520s parents, when the laptop is now a button without Synaptics ClickPad. The main difference is greater than the surface with a cleaner look and gesture, without any extra button. That said, we have difficulty adapting to the new format. If you're a laptop user who wants to rest your finger on the touch pad buttons as you move the cursor on the screen and you can surprise the world. Set the key pad touch pad collects an entrance areas in place with your finger, and try to insert it into the multi-touch gesture. Squeeze the zoom lens is a gesture that usually activate, even if all the multitouch gestures used were still noticed the cursor will "hop" around the desktop. This is very similar to the experience we had with the Dell Inspiron 11z was Elantech button without touch-pad.
To the fields button touchpad a "dead zone" would completely solve this problem.
Total touchpad was very sensitive and easy to use (not to mention the problems mentioned above). The tracking speed was excellent and we had no problem with the input offset. Multitouch gesture was quickly recognized and well. The refresh rate is very high touchpad, which allows us to draw circles faster with very little effect on the cursor leak. If the touchpad had problems with left and right buttons with your fingers resting on the surface, it would have been one of the nicer models, we used a laptop.
