Gateway NV series is a reasonably priced multimedia notebooks available for both AMD and Intel configurations. They offer a 15.6 "16:9 screen, the designer looks, and low power consumption to help the battery last longer. NV-series begins a minimum of $ 529 and can easily fit most budgets. Design and build
Gateway has done a great job designing all of his more recent books, which are giant steps in the models we have seen one or two generations ago. The opening of the NV Series notebook, we see the traditional networks fences have disappeared, replaced by two narrow board. The buttons on the touchpad as a band of approach as a functional component with a simple bar of reflection with the logo on the center of the gateway. The touchpad is slightly recessed, giving a soft edge to the surface so you can see where the edges are not seeing. Even if the door of the NV series could be considered a budget laptop, looks like a machine that costs twice.
Build quality is very good in most areas of SA, the only area that the lower lid of the screen. The cap can be stronger, and some panels showing less distortion when you push the back of the screen. Outside this area one of the NV is very solid and well built. The palm rest and keyboard have no clue flex when pressed firmly ... You can not say about, even some professional high-end notebooks. The friction lock screen / spring closed in all positions while holding a hand, which helps keep dust and objects outside of the laptop during transport. Paint quality is also very good with a durable clear coat that seems to resist most scratches and abrasions. Indoor high-traffic areas have a soft matte finish that reduces blemishes and gives the laptop a cleaner look.
Upgrading your laptop can easily accomplished by removing a simple Tetris-style panel on the back of the notebook that gives you access to the RAM, hard drive and wireless card. No parts have "void warranty if removed" stickers on them. In our particular configuration with 4 GB of RAM, I think the only component that can be exchanged is the hard drive to a faster model. The motherboard is showing signs of a second mini-PCIe slot which could be WWAN in some models, but it is not welded in our review machine. The processor is not visible or accessible through the control panel upgrade, which means you have to fully disassemble the laptop to find it.
Screen and speakers
15.6 "display is a newer 16:9 format, which sacrifices some of 'the height of the place increased horizontal resolution. Supports 720p content and larger cuts of 1080p content, because it is two resolutions: 1366 x 768 screen seems to be of decent quality, but has a limited vertical viewing angle of the area, and I saw a blue finish or a cool tone. to help give you shiny colors look vibrant and improve contrast compared to the matte paint seems. panel shows the lit constantly, with no evidence areas of little or bright. Since this model supports digital audio over the HDMI OUT socket, home theater speaker system is the best option. For private listening, the headphones are a must.
Keyboard and Touchpad
Gateway uses the full width of 15, 6 "frame to include a full-size keyboard with numeric keypad, without sacrificing the size of a primary key. The keyboard uses a Chiclet-style design with any part of the inner bezel recessed surface to the center without of your hand. To write blindly this can be a bit difficult to adjust at first, but once your bearings, it is not too bad. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, without much pressure to activate a key individual. The surface attention is very rigid, strongly arguing endlessly writing. The finish is excellent as well, with precise placement and irregularity key support. See the keyboard directly into the lateral edge, the keys are perfectly aligned, with no visible ripples.
The touchpad is a model of the Alps, with good sensitivity and very low delay. The touch screen surface has a fine matte finish that is easy to slip through, even with sweaty fingers. The size of the surface was more than enough for the size of the laptop, although it was less than the average laptop Apple keyboards with their giant. The touchpad button is a style of game changes to a button with right click and left separately. The click the logo on each side of the bridge, the center is clickable.
